    As a Development, Growth, and Curriculum Administrator and Professor of Graphic Design, my main focus at Berkeley College was to drive continuous improvement in the Graphic Design and Game Design curriculum. I helped launch the Online Graphic Design BFA and Game Design, Graphic Design Certificate.     Course Details:

    • Graphic Design Principles II: This course is designed as an introduction to Photoshop and Illustrator. Projects are designed principles in advertising and marketing media.
    • Web Design I: This course focus is on coding web sites utilizing Dreamweaver HTML and CSS. Introduction to JavaScript. Final project a portfolio website.
    • Web Design II: This course introduces advanced web design techniques utilizing open-source e-commerce content management system (CMS), Apache web server distribution software, graphic design software, including Dreamweaver, advanced CSS, and an introduction to PHP. Students will apply media and dynamic rich content to their CMS designs by applying a working knowledge of XHTML, Cascading Style Sheets, PHP, and Apache. Final course outcome is an online e-commerce web portfolio.
    • UI/UX: This course explores aspects of user interface design engineering. The preparation of concepts will utilize the principles of design, typography, color, and problem-solving skills. Concepts include wireframes, user testing, personas, scenarios, and storyboards, applied to front-end and back-end web and app development.
    • Special Topics: Focuses in depth on a particular period area of interest within graphic design to further develop conceptual and technical skills and create professional work for portfolio development. Projects include app development, game design, branding, digital film, and animations.

    Courses:

    • CIS 100: This course is designed for students across the curriculum. CIS100 emphasizes how the computer is used as a conceptual basis for problem solving and the role each hardware and software component play in the computer process. Students will do online research using the internet and electronic libraries. In addition, this course takes students to a higher level of learning in some of the most widely used application programs.
    • CIS 130: This course is a study of various computer applications as applied to business problems. Applications covered include spreadsheets, windows presentation programs, and databases.
    • Web Design I: This course introduces the fundamentals of web design utilizing graphic design software, including Dreamweaver, and WISIWIG editors. Students will explore web-based concepts, contemporary methods of applying media and dynamic rich content to their websites by applying a working knowledge of XHTML/HTML5 and Cascading Style Sheets. The final course outcome is an online web portfolio.
    • Web Design II: This course introduces advanced web design techniques utilizing open-source e-commerce content management system (CMS), Apache web server distribution software, graphic design software, including Dreamweaver, advanced CSS, and an introduction to PHP. Students will explore contemporary methods of applying animations to their Flash websites. The final course product is a promotional interactive portfolio.

    Other Courses:

    • Emerging Web Technologies: Train students seeking jobs in graphic design/web design/multimedia design/new web technologies and/or prepare them to transfer their coursework towards further undergraduate study. This is a growing field and will give graphic design students advanced opportunities to expand into new emerging web technologies. The focus of the course is app development.
    • Motion Graphics: This course focuses on video pre and post-production, for the purpose of commercial use, including video editing, sound production capturing and editing, and industry standard digital effects. Knowledge of film set maintaining and operating production equipment (Grip) and lighting will be acquired.
